The carpenters put vertical battens up ready to receive the featherboarding, complete with frame for the built-in cat flap. With the featherboarding done, they then turned their attention to the chipboard floor upstairs. The framework could then go in for the stud walling upstairs and for the downstairs cloakroom. This was all done by mid-December - one skin of the stud walls was left open for access for the electricians and plumbers.
On 11th December the glaziers arrived to start the glazing of the windows. It was done in batches and they were all in bar the French doors by Christmas. Since the inside plastering was scheduled for January, the electricians and plumbers were also on site to do their first fix getting the wiring and plumbing into its final position.
